Delete pages

The pages in a range removed, and everything else kept in exactly the order it was in. You name the pages the way you would to a printer — three, or two to five, or one, four, nine to twelve — and nothing else about the document changes. Works on PDFs up to twenty-five megabytes, one file per run, priced from the size of the file you send before a page is opened.

Nothing is charged for uploading, and nothing runs until you press Run. Sign in to load a file and get an estimate first.

01

Drop your PDF in, or choose it from disk. Uploading processes nothing and charges nothing — the file is read far enough to size it and count its pages, and never far enough to open one.

02

Type the pages to remove. Single pages and ranges both work, separated by commas, and what is left keeps the order it had in the original. The estimate is shown before you commit to running it.

03

Run and download. The trimmed document comes back as one PDF, the file you uploaded is left exactly as it was, and a run that fails costs you nothing.

Questions

How do I write the range?

The way you would write it on a print dialog. A single number removes one page, a hyphen removes everything between two numbers inclusive, and commas join as many of those as you need — so one, four, nine to twelve is written as 1,4,9-12. Pages are counted from one, a page named twice is still removed once, and what survives keeps the order it had.

What if I name a page the document does not have?

It is ignored, and the pages that do exist are still removed — the same thing a printer does with the same instruction. Asking for pages two to ninety-nine of a four page document removes two, three and four. The exception is a range wide enough to name every page — one to ninety-nine of that same four page document, say — which this tool refuses rather than hand back an empty file, and a refused job costs nothing.

Does the file get smaller?

Usually, by about what the removed pages were carrying. Taking a page out takes out the content, images and fonts that only that page used, so a document whose pages each carry their own text and pictures comes back noticeably smaller. What the removed pages shared with the ones you kept stays, because the pages you kept still need it — a font used throughout the document, or a logo repeated on every page, is not something removing a page can take out, and a document built that way shrinks less. Either way, the price here is based on the file you send rather than on the one you get back.

Can I keep pages instead of removing them?

Use Split PDF, which takes the same kind of range and gives you what you named rather than what you did not. The two tools are the same question asked from opposite ends, and which one is less typing depends entirely on your document.

What does it cost?

About one and a third credits per megabyte, plus a small flat amount per file. A two megabyte document costs three credits and the largest file this tool takes costs thirty-four. How many pages you remove does not change the price. The price follows the bytes, and nothing about when or how often you run it.

What happens to my files?

Inputs are deleted twenty-four hours after upload and results after thirty days. Deletion means the object is removed from storage, not hidden from your history.
