Convert HEIC to JPG
Converting an image changes the container, not the picture inside it. Pick what you have and what you need, drop the files in, and the estimate updates before anything runs. Every format here is decoded and re-encoded at the original pixel dimensions — nothing is resized, cropped or upscaled on the way through. What does change is the size of the file you get back, and occasionally something you would rather keep: transparency and animation do not survive every conversion, and the notes below say so for the pair you have chosen rather than in general.
The page, the price and the answers below are open to everyone. Signing in is only needed at the moment you press Run.

HEIC to JPG
An iPhone made it and something else refuses to open it — an upload form, an older Windows machine, a print shop. This is the conversion most people arrive here for.
Expect about 1.7x the file size.
Both formats are lossy, so the picture is decoded and encoded a second time. One pass at high quality is close to invisible; repeatedly converting the same file back and forth is not.
Questions
Does converting lose quality?
It depends on what you started with. Going from a lossy format to another lossy one decodes and re-encodes the picture, which costs a little detail each time — one pass at high quality is close to invisible, and converting the same file back and forth repeatedly is not. Going from a lossless format loses nothing on the way out, though it may lose something on the way in if the target is lossy. Pixel dimensions never change, whichever direction you are going.
What happens to my metadata?
Camera settings, capture date and orientation are carried across by default, so a photo stays the right way up and keeps the information a photo library reads. Location data travels with it, which is worth knowing before sharing a converted file publicly — the console has a switch to strip all of it if you would rather it did not.
How many files can I convert at once?
One per run, up to twenty-five megabytes. Converting a folder means running it once per file rather than handing over the whole folder, which is the trade this tool makes for a price you approve against the exact file it will produce. Each run is priced from the size of the file it writes, and you see that number before anything runs.
The tool itself
This page is a guide to one conversion at a time. The tool behind it — its full specification, its pricing and its limits — has its own page.
